Superstudio, Misura Table, 1970 Pre Edition

The table is an early Misura / Misura M series and is as a early, handcrafted example dating from approximately 1969–1972. Its construction differs in several important respects from the later industrial production of the Quaderna series by Zanotta. From 1969 onward, Superstudio developed the Misura series from its “Istogrammi” concept. The defining orthogonal grid was conceived not merely as a decorative pattern, but as a comprehensive proportional and dimensional system. Historical documentation indicates that the earliest Misura pieces were produced by local craftsmen in the Florence area before Zanotta subsequently took over production and introduced the series commercially as Quaderna from 1972 onward.
